Accounting Manager

Summary

The Accounting Manager administers and manages daily activities of the accounting function at the facility by performing the following duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assists in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and/or payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and SMG policies and procedures
  • Supervises payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other accounting functions and personnel
  • Prepares and performs or assists with event settlements
  • Prepares and performs bank reconciliations
  • Supervises and assists with the preparation of all financial reporting, including:  
  • Assists with preparation of financial statements for the Client and SMG Corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements and annual budget
  • Coordinates the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures
  • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, cost, operating expenses, and insurance records
  • Verifies and checks the accuracy of general ledger coding
  • Participates in cost analyses and rate studies
  • Prepares and analyzes information for financial statements and reports
  • Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues
  • Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls
  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting. Works with auditors in verifying financial information/procedures
  • Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems
  • Reviews financial statements with management personnel
  • Supervises the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory and other related procedures and controls
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises employees in the Finance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SMG's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience 

  • B. S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university preferred

  • Excellent and math skills; high aptitude for figures

Alcohol Compliance Supervisor

POSITION:  Alcohol Compliance Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Alcohol Compliance Supervisor ensures that all local and state of Nebraska liquor laws are followed at Pinnacle Bank Arena, Pinewood Bowl and other SMG venues.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recognize and react to alcohol violations and get assistance as needed.
  • Work during alcohol events at Pinnacle Bank Arena, Pinewood Bowl and other SMG venues.
  • Observe and report any policy violation of SMG staff and non-profit groups. 
  • Report guest issues to Manager on Duty.
  • Check ID of persons drinking alcohol if they appear to be under the ages of 35.
  • Actively walk Arena floor during events to monitor that the allowed number of alcoholic beverages are being purchased by patrons.
  • Follow rules and serving regulations set forth by the State of Nebraska and Pinnacle Bank Arena.
  • Communicate activities at the end of the shift to the Manager on Duty.
  • Reports to Concessions Manager or Manager on Duty for assigned location(s).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Concessions Manager or Manager on Duty.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

DUTIES & SKILLS

  • Good communication skills required.
  • Greet guests in a friendly manner and be professional at all times.
  • Ability to handle money and make correct change.
  • Ability to move quickly in a safe manner.

  • Setup and manage internet connections.  
  • Operate sound consoles, light boards, house lighting system, ribbon board control Replay Effects, Video Switchers, and Click Effects as necessary.  
  • Unload and load client trucks.  
  • Move scenery on and off stage per show needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Under general supervision, responsible for cleaning and waste/trash disposal of an assigned area.  Maintain all areas inside and outside of the building including but not limited to restrooms, hallways, arena attic, locker room, sidewalks, parking landscape, both during an event and nonevent times.    This includes but is not limited to replenishing supplies, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal and sorting, vacuuming, washing, waxing, lawn work, snow and ice removal.  Must be at least 18 years of age.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general building and ground in a safe and clean manner.
  • Perform cleaning and janitorial tasks as required or assigned.  
  • Empty trash and wastebaskets.  
  • Transport trash and waste to proper disposal areas, and sort recycling as needed.
  • Operate custodial equipment and other related equipment as required.
  • Report all damaged equipment to supervisor.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Washes dishes, glassware, pots, pans, flatware and kitchen items, using dish machines or by hand
  • Places clean dishes, utensils and cooking equipment in storage areas
  • Cleans work area including equipment, floors, walls and cooking area
  • Ensures that all levels for sanitizer on dish machine and pot sinks are at specific requirements for health standards
  • Keeps all kitchen wares storage areas clean and orderly
  • Removes trash from dish room and transports to dumpster and cleans and sanitizes garbage cans 
  • Stocks supplies such as food, dishes, and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators and salad bars
  • Assists with accepting delivery items and storage of such items
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks
  • Assists in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking or serving as needed

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs creative menus and plans production.
  • Establishes presentation technique and quality standards.
  • Schedules and supervises Kitchen employees.
  • Coordinates and directs training of chefs, cooks and other kitchen staff in preparing and cooking foods to ensure high quality, efficient and profitable food service.
  • Responsible for food preparation for the entire Arena, including but not limited to Concessions, Suites, Catering, and off property events.
  • Estimates food consumption, purchases and kitchen supplies.
  • Responsible for ordering product to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Monitors inventory levels to minimize food costs and spoilage.
  • Reviews menus, analyzes recipes, and determines food, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Assigns prices to menu items in accordance with budgetary goals.
  • Observes methods of food preparation and cooking, sizes of portions, and garnishing of foods to ensure food is prepared in prescribed manner.
  • Establishes and enforces nutrition, sanitation and quality standards for food and beverage.
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and food preparation areas according to the rules and regulations of the local health department and SMG/Savor.

Supervisory Responsibilities   

  • The Sous Chef will report to the Executive Chef.   
  • Directly supervises all Kitchen personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SMG's policies and applicable laws including training. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience    

  • Certificate from accredited culinary school, college or technical school
  • 3 or more years of hands on experience

  • Large arena or venue experience preferred

Skills and Abilities 

  • Ability to use and maintain basic food service and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to train others in the use of basic food service and kitchen equipment
  • Strong analytical and mathematic skills in relation to the culinary profession and Food and Beverage industry 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management
  • Ability to problem solve     
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
  • Ability to cater large events for over 2500 guests
  • Requires flexible hours that will vary due to function needs

Computer Skills  

  • Knowledge of computers. Word processing and spreadsheet experience is preferred

Other Qualifications 

  • Current certification in food handling and safety sanitation (Sani-Serve or similar) or ability to be certified with minimal preparation is required

Prep Cook

POSITION: Prep Cook
DEPARTMENT: Savor….Food & Beverage
REPORTS TO: Sous Cook
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Hourly

The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting the chefs and cooks by prepping food for events. This position also assists in preparing location and area for day to day operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prep ingredients for cooking
  • Washing, chopping and cutting of ingredients
  • Making precise measurements
  • Help mix spices
  • Package and store leftover foods
  • Store and properly handle raw or prepared foods and non-food supplies
  • Stir stocks, sauces and dressings
  • Testing the temperature of foods
  • Distribute and store clean pots, dishes and utensils
  • Washing dishes and taking out trash
  • Must adhere to the SMG dress code which includes wearing  bladck pants and non-slip soled closed toe shoes
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic working knowledge of food and beverage
  • Basic food preparation
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and effectively perform the work
  • Fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness and personal hygiene

  • Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift

Warehouse Runner/Porter

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has excellent and immediate openings for Warehouse Porters at the Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Warehouse Porter assists the Warehouse Manager in delivering product orders to the concession stands. To help the Concessions Manager maintain adequate inventory levels and perform assigned tasks to help maintain operational standards of the concession stand in accordance with SMG’s Universal Service Standards (and applicable Operational Standards).

Essential Functions

  • Presents a cooperative work attitude and cheerfully accepts job responsibilities
  • Delivers appropriate stock to all concession stands, portables and commissaries
  • Learns correct containers and food products used in portables and stands
  • Properly cleans commissaries, concession stands and portables, as assigned
  • Reports all needed stand repairs to the Commissary Manager
  • Must adhere to the SMG dress code which includes wearing non-slip soled closed toe shoes
  • Other duties as assigned
