Nebraska Men vs. Miami

Big Ten/ACC Challenge

December 1, 2015

About The Event

The Hurricanes are 5-1 on the season and look to rebound from a last second 78-77 loss to Northeastern on Friday night. Miami had won its first five games by double figures, including wins over nationally ranked Utah and Butler to win the Puerto Rico Tipoff two weeks ago. Miami, which won 25 games and reached the NIT Finals in 2015, has four players averaging double figures, led by Sheldon McClellan’s 17.5 points per game

SCOUTING MIAMI
Under Coach Jim Larrañaga, Miami comes to Lincoln with a 5-1 record, including a pair of wins over nationally-ranked teams. The Hurricanes lost to Northeastern, 78-77, on Quincy Ford’s jumper at the buzzer in their last contest. Despite the loss and the drop from 15th to 21st in the AP poll, the Hurricanes have been impressive early on, posting all five of their wins by double figures.

Miami is a balanced club with four players averaging double figures, led by senior Sheldon McClellan’s 17.5 ppg. In all, six Hurricanes average at least 8.8 points per game as Miami averages 89.3 points per game. Senior Tonye Jeriri anchors the inside, hauling in 10.3 rebounds per game and blocking 1.5 shots per outing. Miami returns their top four scorers from a team that went 25-13 and reached the NIT finals in 2014-15.
